This is in the western side of Maha Nandi. Garuda or Garutmantha, the son of Vinaya Meditated for the success in his attempt in getting nectar (Amruta) to release his mother from the slavery and pleased Siva. So it is famous by name “Garuda Nandi”.
It is in the south-east side of Siva temple on the bank of a pond at Mahanadi. Vinayaka made tapas for lord Siva and was blessed and this place is named as Vinayaka Nandi’ as his desire. It became the abode of peace.
