Formerly this was called Maheenadi and then Dara. This a Speciality of its own. The water of this river was used for anointing kumaraswamy, then it is called kumaradhara. Once if a man who is affected by skin disease is taken bath here, soon that will wash away. It is having a miraculous power. Severe skin diseases are curing here.
In the new moon day and sankramana co-inside on a Saturday in the shravan month the river enjoys what is called the pushkara yoga.
